It's all about the child
Our vision is to champion the work of parenting as a force for better outcomes for children and young people. We want the next generation to have the character, confidence and skills to lead healthy, fulfilling and productive lives.
We want our young people to have a good childhood now so that they can have a great adulthood. To forge relationships and feel they belong to their community and feel connected to the global community. To feel empowered to care for the world and take on responsibilities and make contributions towards a prosperous and socially just society. We believe parents play a big part in making this happen.
This means parents, and those that have a responsibility for children, should be supported because good parenting is the bedrock to building a healthy, thriving society. At Parent Power, our projects, programmes and events are designed to support parents and carers but at the centre of the design is the child. That's why at Parent Power we say, 'It's all about the child'.
By making all our projects and programmes about what is best for the child, we continue to innovate and deliver wide-ranging activities in a variety of formats, from wellbeing journals for young people, to coaching parents one-to-one, practical skills workshops, spaces for dialogue, workshops on Zoom, using the performing arts for young people, or arts and crafts for fun family activities.
As a London community-based organisation, we have developed a powerful network of parents, schools, charities, social enterprises, funders and advocates and our reach continues to grow.
Parent Power delivers high value to parents, young people, schools, charities and other community-based organisations as a result of it's ability to define culturally-specific needs and communicate across communities.
EXTRA HELP FOR YOU
Our Perinatal Project Extra Help For You supports parents from pregnancy through the early years, focusing on wellbeing, cultural understanding, and access to care. We work to address challenges such as communication barriers, stigma, and unequal treatment in healthcare, creating a safe space for parents to share experiences, build confidence, and connect with resources that nurture both parent and child.
