Who are we?
We are Parent Power and references to 'we' and 'us' and 'our' refers to our legal status as Parent Power Limited. We are registered company offering educational support services to families, parents and children.
How do we collect information
- We collect information in a variety of ways, depending on your relationship with us:
- you may offer us your details when you sign up for one of our events/activities/workshops/programmes either in person, the email or through our website.
- you may join us on social media
- you may sign up to receive newsletters
- you may agree to receiving WhatsApp messages for updates
- you may have applied to work with us as a volunteer or intern
- your details may have been given to us by social workers or partners with whom we work with for specific projects
How do we store your data?
- We maintain spreadsheets using MS Excel and Word. These are saved on a secure cloud server.
- Our website stores emails for newsletters
- Our website collects anonymised meta data of those visiting the website to help us understand our website visitors.
- Meta Business (the company that runs Facebook and Instagram) offers data about followers and viewers to help us understand traffic, user demographics and interests.
- Phone numbers are stored on smartphones which are locked using a secure pin.
Who else has access to your information?
- We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
- We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We may share your details with third-parties with whom we are working with to deliver an event or programme. However, when we use these third parties, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the services. Please be reassured that we will not release your information to third parties for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes
- We also share data with funders. This usually is general data such as age and background of the users of a service or programme, not details that specifically identify individuals such as names and emails.
How long do we keep your data for?
- We keep your data so that we can contact you. Many users of our services come to us again or have given permission for us to contact them again.
- We are also required to keep some data for legal reasons. For example, if we have been paid to deliver a service, we need to keep your details for tax purposes for the legal time period. (Currently, the time period is five years.)
When you visit this website
- We, like many organisations and companies, use cookies for when people visit our website. A cookie is a small file placed on your computer drive (hard drive or cloud).
- Using cookies enables the Parent Power site to identify your computer as you view different pages on the site. This data is collected by our web builder and we do not have access to the information collected.
- The web builder gives us anonymised data to let us know about website traffic and which pages people are accessing so we know what is useful. We do not track your wider searches or preferences from your search engine.
- You can decline to install cookies. You can also delete cookies through the settings function on your web browser. Please be aware that this may affect how the Parent Power website functions, and some pages may become unavailable to you.
When you use social media
When you connect or interact with us on social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter, we may obtain information about you (for example, when you publicly tag us in an event photo). The information we receive will depend on the privacy preferences you have set on those types of platforms. We encourage you to read the Privacy Policy of the social media platform(s) you use.
When you use the links on our website to visit other websites
Our website may contain links to other websites run by other organisations. This policy applies only to our website. We cannot be held responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other websites even if you access those using links from our website.
