Parent Power trains volunteers to deliver programmes to the community. Champions are also trained to become mentors and support families and parents in need of friendship or specific support.
Those who join us share their skills, time, and compassion to lift fellow parents in the community. Being a Champion also offers our volunteers connection and purpose, as well as opportunities for skill development and growth.
We always need volunteers and would love to hear from you.
We train all our Champions, and we provide references for work and training. You would only be asked to work hours that you can fit around your own home and work life, and on topics and locations that suit you. The type of activities and people you will be asked to support are:

"Being a Champion for a year has been an amazing experience."
Iris joined Parent Power in 2024 when her children started primary school. With more free time during school hours, she wanted to do something meaningful while still being able to care for her children. This role allowed her to work around her children’s schedules and contribute to the community at the same time.
During this time, Iris was given opportunities to attend various training sessions on perinatal parenting. She successfully completed the Solihull Approach Parenting and Practitioner Training course, which has enriched her parenting knowledge and boosted her confidence in supporting new parents.
On the benefits of being a Champion, Iris says, "I have been able to connect with different people through outreach and parenting workshops, where I share my own parenting experiences. As a new immigrant to this country, I can relate to the challenges of adapting to a new environment and understanding the concerns of parents with similar backgrounds. Initially, I felt out of place living here, but becoming a Champion has made me feel like a valued part of this community, inspiring me to contribute even more.
This role has also motivated me to seek out courses for personal development. I have taken crafting, cookery, and bakery classes, where I have learned new skills and made new friends.
I would definitely encourage my friends — or anyone — to join our team so we can learn, grow, and support one another."
"This journey has been nothing short of amazing."
Last year, by accident, Louis discovered a Parent Power course for new parents, and for the first time, felt truly heard, seen, and welcomed. "I realised I wasn’t alone in facing the challenges of parenthood. As a foreigner without family here, connecting with others in a similar situation was incredibly reassuring."
Through these sessions, Louis became confident and committed himself to learning as much as possible. Louis explains, "I attended courses like Discovering Me and Perinatal Parenting and even completed the Solihull Online Training. What started as a simple step turned into something beyond my expectations — I became a proud Parent Power Champion.
Now, I have the privilege of being a facilitator, supporting other parents just as Parent Power has supported me. I’m still learning, growing, and discovering new things, and it means the world to me that my son can be part of this journey, attending events that enrich both of our lives.
I wholeheartedly recommend these sessions to my friends and colleagues. Even attending just one event could make a difference. Together, we can support and encourage one another — because parenting is a journey best shared."

Sangeeta says, "Working with Parent Power has given me valuable insight into the importance of community-driven efforts and has reinforced my passion for using design and administrative skills to support meaningful causes."
Naomi is a mother of three. Naomi worked in property management for over nine years, and since having children, she has been supporting parents within the community with Parent Power. Naomi finds volunteering immensely rewarding.
Naomi says, "One of the most meaningful parts of this experience has been connecting with parents and caregivers with Bianca encouraging me to take the lead through creating activities, workshops, peer support groups and one-on-one mentoring and public speaking.
Beyond volunteering, this role has inspired me and given me great confidence to pursue my own growth."
