Volunteering as a Parent Champion over the past 4 years has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
I first got involved with Bianca, the Founder of Parent Power, when visiting the local library with my children. I was inspired by Bianca’s vision and desire to support parents within the community, as I was also looking for a way to give back whilst balancing work and family life.
Volunteering as a Parent Champion gave me the flexibility to make a difference whilst still prioritising my responsibilities at home.
During my time with Parent Power, I’ve had the chance to participate in valuable training programmes, event preparations and delivery. These sessions have deepened my understanding of child development, mental health and the ability to be directly involved in my local community.
My involvement with Parent Power and my own life experiences have equipped me with practical tools to support others within the local community who are facing challenges or require support.
One of the most meaningful parts of this experience has been connecting with parents and caregivers. Bianca encouraged me to take the lead by creating activities, workshops, peer support groups, one-on-one mentoring, and public speaking.
Beyond volunteering, this role has inspired me and given me great confidence in my ability to pursue my own growth. I would encourage others to join - there is nothing to lose and so much to gain!
